Elephant Trekking

In researching animal abuse, the plight of elephants cannot be overlooked. In Phuket, for instance, elephant trekking is a common tourist activity. Most tourists are blissfully unaware that in order to train an elephant, a baby elephant is "broken" - beaten for so long and so severely, that when finally let out of his cage, he no longer even recognizes his own mother. The same is done of circus elephants. It's horrific. Elephants are intelligent, sensitive creatures, and deserve better than to be beaten will bullhooks.
